Your stay

While there is no patient hotel available at the hospital, our team will support you or accompanying family members in finding suitable accommodation nearby.

Please note that all inpatient care is based on medical need. Room allocation and services are determined accordingly, and additional upgrades or purchases are not available.

When the treatment is completed we will send a final invoice of the total cost for the treatment. If the cost is lower than estimated we will reimburse the surplus amount, and if the cost is higher than estimated we will require an additional payment. 

English is widely spoken at our hospital. Interpreter support can be arranged if needed.

Medical records are documented in Swedish. After your treatment, you may request a summary of your care in English. Official extracts from the medical record are provided in Swedish.

To enter Sweden, please bring the necessary documents:

• Valid passport
• Visa
• EHIC for EU citizens
• Travel insurance if applicable

If needed, our team will support you by providing documentation required for your visa application for medical treatment.

A range of services are available within the hospital areas, including cafeterias, restaurants and small shops.

Sahlgrenska University Hospital is a non‑smoking environment. Smoking, including e‑cigarettes, is not permitted on hospital grounds.

As a university hospital, we train future healthcare professionals. Students may be present during your visit, but your consent is always required, and you are free to decline.

All our hospital locations are easily accessible by public transport, making it simple to travel to and from your appointments.
