Emergency care for visitors in Sweden

You always have the right to receive care in urgent situations. In other words, emergency care that you need urgently, such as if you get a serious infection or if you break a bone and need to be fitted with a plaster cast.

For people aged over 16 in need of emergency care.

Accident & Emergency Department, Östra Hospital

For people aged over 16 in need of emergency care, and for patients with injuries in need of orthopaedic care such as a fracture or injury to a joint.

For people aged over 16 in need of emergency care, and for patients with injuries in need of orthopaedic care such as a fracture or injury to a joint.

Psychiatric Emergency

For people aged over 18 years of age in need of emergency psychiatric care.

Children's emergency

General Emergency 

For children and youths up to the age of 16 in need of emergency care.

Psychiatric Emergency

For people under 18 years of age in need of emergency psychiatric care during evenings, nights, and weekends. Call before coming to us so that we can make sure you receive the correct care. A responsible adult over the age of 18 should be present.

Care during weekdays

For people under 18 years of age in need of emergency psychiatric care during weekdays you should contact BUP, a specialist service for child and adolescent psychiatry which offers emergency appointments. Child and adolescent psychiatry (BUP) in Västra Götaland (1177.se)

Gynaecological emergency

For people with acute gynaecological emergencies.

Emergency for pregnant and recently delivered

For people who are pregnant or have just given birth and need specialised emergency care.

Opening hours

The emergency clinic is open Monday-Friday 8.00-21.00, Saturday and Sunday 8.00-1600. At other times there is emergency care at Department 314, which is one of our labour and delivery wards located at Journalvägen 6, floor 4.
