Sahlgrenska Comprehensive Cancer Centre
Sahlgrenska Comprehensive Cancer Centre (Sahlgrenska CCC) brings together cancer care, cancer research and education at Sahlgrenska University Hospital in a joint structure. The aim is to ensure high quality, coordination, and long-term development across the entire spectrum of cancer care.
Being a Comprehensive Cancer Centre (CCC) means that clinical cancer care and research are integrated and conducted in close collaboration. Sahlgrenska CCC covers the entire patient journey – from diagnosis and treatment to follow-up care, rehabilitation and palliative care. Patient representatives are part of the work and contribute experiences that are used to development and improve operations.
The work to establish Sahlgrenska CCC began in 2019. In 2022, Sahlgrenska University Hospital was accredited as a Comprehensive Cancer Centre by the Organisation of European Cancer Institutes (OECI). The accreditation is based on a comprehensive review of structures, processes, anSahlgrd collaboration within cancer care and research.
Sahlgrenska CCC is now working towards re-accreditation in 2027. The work focuses on further developing quality, coordination and follow-up, as well as strengthening the links between care, research and education in close collaboration with the Sahlgrenska Academy at the University of Gothenburg and the Regional Cancer Centre West.
