Dr. Edvard Abel is an oncologist, researcher and healthcare leader at Sahlgrenska University Hospital, where he serves as Senior Consultant in Oncology and Director of the Sahlgrenska Comprehensive Cancer Centre (SCCC). His work focuses on strengthening cancer care through precision medicine, clinical research and patient-centred innovation.

Abel has played a key role in developing national collaborations that aim to make advanced cancer treatment more accessible and equitable across Sweden. At Sahlgrenska University Hospital, Abel works to connect highly specialised care, research, education and innovation. Through his leadership of SCCC, he has contributed to positioning the hospital as a leading centre for precision oncology, clinical trials and comprehensive cancer care in Sweden.

“I am dedicated to promote collaboration, both between the different departments at Sahlgrenska University Hospital, and also on a national and international level, for the benefit of cancer patients.”, says Abel.
