Library and school

At Queen Silvia Children’s Hospital, your child can continue to learn and grow through our school and library. There is also space for play and imagination – helping create a sense of normality during their time in hospital.

Library

Queen Silvia Children’s Hospital have a children’s and young people’s library with qualified librarians who can help you find books you will enjoy. And when you finish one, there’s always a new one to borrow. Our librarians are here to guide you.

There are lots of fun and exciting books to borrow, and the librarians also read aloud to patients. You may sit in our cosy library or in your room – whichever feels most comfortable for you.

School

Both patients and siblings staying at the hospital can continue with their schooling. Our teachers work both in the classroom and in hospital rooms, depending on what you feel able to manage. We keep in touch with your regular school so that you can keep up with what your class is doing.

We can come to you

If you do not feel well enough to come to the library, a librarian can visit you in your hospital room instead. You choose which book to read.

You or a parent can also borrow books on the library and bring them to your room.
