Dr. Roger Olofsson Bagge is a professor of cancer surgery at the University of Gothenburg and a Senior Consultant Surgeon at Sahlgrenska University Hospital. His internationally recognised research focuses on melanoma and breast cancer, spanning surgical oncology, regional perfusion therapies, immunology, and clinical trials.

He leads a major translational research group and has published over 200 papers in leading journals. Olofsson Bagge also plays a key role in developing specialised cancer treatments in Sweden and serves on the board of the Sahlgrenska Comprehensive Cancer Center.

Olofsson Bagge is involved in the surgical treatments of breast cancer and melanoma at the Sahlgrenska University Hospital and is internationally recognised for advancing the regional cancer therapies isolated limb perfusion (ILP) and percutaneous hepatic perfusion (PHP). Already during his specialist training Olofsson Bagge developed a strong interest in regional cancer therapies, and his mentor, Dr Jan Mattsson taught him the advanced procedure. Olofsson Bagge’s work has contributed to establishing Sweden as an international leader in regional perfusion therapies and has helped bring these treatments into modern clinical trial programs.

”As usual when learning something new, one realizes that there is always more to explore. This is how I became interested in the ILP method and decided to develop it further, to be able to help more patients with serious cancer diagnosis”, says Olofsson Bagge.
