Emergency care for visitors in Sweden

You are always entitled to care in urgent situations. This includes any treatment you need immediately, for example for a serious infection or a broken bone that requires a cast.

For people aged 16 and over who require emergency care.

For people aged 16 and over who require emergency care, including patients with injuries needing orthopaedic treatment, such as fractures or joint injuries.

For people aged 16 and over who require emergency care, as well as patients with injuries needing orthopaedic treatment, such as fractures or joint injuries.

Psychiatric Emergency

For people aged 18 and over who require emergency psychiatric care.

Children's emergency

General Emergency 

For children and youths up to the age of 16 who require emergency care.

Psychiatric Emergency

For people under 18 who require emergency psychiatric care during evenings, nights and weekends. Please call before visiting so that we can ensure you receive the appropriate care. A responsible adult aged 18 or over should accompany them.

Care during weekdays

For people under 18 who require emergency psychiatric care on weekdays, please contact BUP, the specialist child and adolescent psychiatry service, which offers emergency appointments.

Gynaecological emergency

For people who require care for acute gynaecological emergencies.

Emergency care during pregnancy and after birth

For people who are pregnant or have recently given birth and require specialised emergency care.

Opening hours

The emergency clinic is open Monday to Friday, 8.00–21.00, and Saturday and Sunday, 8.00–16.00. At other times, emergency care is provided at Department 314, one of our labour and delivery wards, located at Östra Hospital, Journalvägen 6, floor 4.
