The hospital management

Sahlgrenska University Hospital is governed through a combination of line management and hospital‑wide processes that ensure coordinated governance across the organisation.

The hospital’s executive management consists of clinical division directors, the chief medical officer, the chief nursing officer, and functional directors (e.g. finance, communication, etc.). It is responsible for the hospital’s strategic management, budgeting, quality, work environment, and implementation of objectives. The hospital also has a politically appointed board, which holds the overall responsibility for operations, long‑term development, and quality of care.

The hospital’s day to day management follows the regular line structure, from divisions and departments to first line management.
