Sahlgrenska appointed six new national specialised care assignments

Sahlgrenska University Hospital will provide national highly specialised care in six new areas, following an assignment from the Swedish Board of Health and Welfare.

The new assignments are within the following medical areas:

🔹Advanced pelvic surgery
🔹Residual condition after polio
🔹Severe skin symptoms
🔹Intestinal rehabilitation for children
🔹Visceral intestinal transplantation
🔹Intestinal failure treatment for adults

Sahlgrenska University Hospital now has a grand total of 35 permits. Here is the rest of the list:

🔹Treatment of childhood glaucoma and childhood cataracts
🔹Cytoreductive surgery combined with intraperitoneal warm chemotherapy for patients with disseminated intraperitoneal cancer (HIPEC)
🔹Epilepsy surgical investigation and treatment (valid from 1 July 2024)
🔹Extraction of pacemaker equipment (valid from 1 January 2024)
🔹Fertility preservation surgery in cervical cancer
🔹Heart surgery on children and adolescents
🔹Cardiac surgery in adults with congenital heart defects
🔹Heart transplant
🔹Intensive care when liver transplantation may be indicated
🔹Isolated Limb Perfusion (ILP)
🔹Chronic lung diseases in children (valid from 1 July 2023)
🔹Curative treatment of vulvar cancer
🔹Gender dysphoria (valid from 1 January 2024)
🔹Liver transplant
🔹Lung transplant
🔹Congenital metabolic disease (valid from 1 July 2024)
🔹Abdominal neuroendocrine tumors and advanced adrenal tumors (valid from 1 April 2023)
🔹Neuromuscular diseases, incl. the subgroups for children and targeted investigations in metabolic/mitochondrial diseases
🔹Preimplantation Genetic Testing (PGT)
🔹Retinopathy of prematurity
🔹Retroperitoneal lymph node evacuation in testicular cancer
🔹Difficult-to-treat eating disorders, incl. the subgroup for children (valid from 1 December 2023)
🔹Self-injurious behavior difficult to treat
🔹Transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIPS)
🔹Some care for endometriosis
🔹Certain craniofacial surgery
🔹Certain care for spinal cord injuries (valid from 1 April 2023)
🔹Some care for primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC)
🔹Some care for prolapse and urinary incontinence
